hey kids,

Finally got that facade cut. Due to the scale of the model it only left the frame between the tesselations to be 1mm thick. this means that when when the machine cuts the cardboard will tear baceuse it loses it sstructural integrity.

So to make it possible i had the tessalations cut thorugh 90% of the card so i am going to have to go through and cut each one out by hand the other 10%. Shouldn't be too much of a drama. i will do it over the weekend.

what i am going to do is make an overhead transparancy to stick behind the cut tesselations with the corrisponding program of each cell represented. e.g alucobond, glazing etc...

LOOKS SWEET!

hope you boys hit it hard last night. But we must actually hit it massively another night. maybe next fridat for final year exhibition?

peace out players!

respect, Tim

Nice one lads

my apologies about lateness today, you will be happy to know that the whipper snipping around my house has been sorted out for another three months- Now...

As Glenny went through on Thursday The plan is as follows (think timmy may have been the only one to miss out) but you sir are doing Details of Doors/ Thresholds, Wet areas, Lobby and Bar section details, you are more than welcome to do any other details that you find necessary- may need to focus on one area (i suggest reading area).

Other things to ponder- am just sorting out second floor, will have it completed by tomorrow. Will start skin detailing and putting in pattern (make final plans for skin), Timmy with the thresholds should focus on folding of skin, waiting room [entrance], Benny has stuck up his hand for the Specs job, but make it easier for him by specifying on drawings materiality.

The pictures are of the Spanish Pavillion at the 2005 Expo- note colour and patterning

TEAM PLAN

As we found out by watching the mighty ducks in years past it is very important create a plan for smashing this assignment out. I will spend the the weekend coming up with a great plan that would rival any mighty ducks "V" formation. Lets stick to our guns and follow what a wise man once told me, "lets stick it right up them"

tessellation

hey team was just having a quick squiz at fed square and their patterning.
as you can see from the pic above they use the same basic shape all over but thy change the colour/material to give a pattern. i'm just thinking that we should do te same thing to make it easier, instead of trying to fit different shapes and sizes together.
have a look and decide for yourself.
have a good one, i'll see you next week

progess

lads (and ladies)

Don't think we have mentioned the name for the boutique hotel- it is known as GRID mostly due to the urban surroundings and construction of floor plates resembling a grid.

Its been a while architecture fans- just writing to say we have a) met the structural engineer for the first time- he was happy with the building structure, suggested a few minor changes- would like us to thicken the beams, not chamfer the slab. b) talked to Terry- he has suggested doing a few more sections in order to describe what is going on in the building and c) had a talk to james- he introduced the idea of "tessellation" for our screen which will give it more character. One massive setback though has been the realization that the majority of rooms in the building face south (devo) this will have to be discussed further and in detail in order to come up with a compromise.

ps- that screen was originally 1.5m from the slab- can you kids remember why we changed it?

if keen to catch up today give us a dingle

on that note- stay safe

HERZOG- screen?

Legends...have made a few amendments and am still in the process of smashing them out. have had a small chat with Timmy about the possibility of using sheet music as the basis for our screen (get some Mozart or Britney or anything really, enlarge and work out perforations for the notes -emboss, puncture extrude etc. what are your thoughts lads?

Am close to the end with these amendments, will be in at you-and-i-versity tomorrow for the whole day [probably in studio] get involved if not working. Glenny will definitely have revised plans up by tomorrow- probably lunchtime.

Timmy you are on the screen- details and concepts

Glenny- room (sections)

Benny- on details, joinery, operable windows

Samuel George- making amendments to sections plans and elevations

will hopefully catch you punks tomorrow

for now here is some inspiration- ps spelling has been checked the american way= the wrong way

PS well played Timothy on that mesh screen. it looks terrific

LEGENDS, am calling it a night for tonight. have changed the plans (re-configured the service lift etc.- take a look and comment) and done a little fine tuning. the plans will be sweet as bags of wheat, but may take a day or two- all plans should be smashed out by sunday. am pondering wether or not it would be a good idea to delete a room from each floor and add an extra floor in order to be sweet as for services- input and output air. ps can one of you fine gentlemen find the m2 area for the services for the building and post it on this bad boy...that would be lovely.

Tell us what you think of the ammendments, am posting them on the gmail account.

PEACE OUT PLAYERS - this is a Peter Eisenman model...lets copy it hehehe

the blog king has entered to claim what is rightfully his. by the end of this semester i shall be crowned as the ultimate blogger of both quality and quantity.

sammy's done some great work on the layout of the typical floor plan. tonight we shall try and finalise the ground floor and lower levels. to my right the viz king timmy is rendering beautifully and woody and myself are as keen as 'smokin' joe frazier on fight night to churn out some brilliant cad work.

Im back

Well it has been a matter of minutes and here i am again, just really putting in the hard yards- started a "gmail" for the group to use aptly named teamtaipan@gmail.com this should be handy for communications. Team taipan met up today (tuesday) and resolved a few planning issues. Timmy has been working on a viz model witch Ill try and get him to put up some screen shots for you eager "viewers." Ive been working on a bit of everything -the plans, sections etc. yesterday i started the massing model site plan, that although already provided i think will come in handy in the next couple of assignments. The other lads, Glen and Ben have been helping with the plan layout.

Are meeting tomorrow arvo and will keep you posted with any news.

The class got a one week extension today- this is much appreciated and will produce much more concise work.

Still cant find out how to change the layout, will get in touch with "knot-architecture" tomorrow and get some better visuals.

Ps last post photo was a design by Ken Yeang, this post has a Zaha Hadid concept

Hey there architecture world. Am new to this so may just start with a small 'mushi-mushi' and continue on from there. In therse blogs- as i am not entirely sure of what is needed- a diary? thoughts? etc... - they may be a little all over the place but i guess it is a good way of communication between teamtaipan.

Will try and include some sweet pictures as to make it a little less boring and will try and figure out how to change the boring background.
